Mobile Bag Filtration Solutions

High Flow Mobile Filtration - We Bring the Solution to You!

Mobile bag Pod Filtration Trailer mounted units are commonly used in to improve the efficiency and longevity of equipment, as well as ensure the safety of operations. These filtration units help manage the quality of fluids (such as water, oil, cooling fluids and drilling muds) by removing solid contaminants, particles, mill scale, welding slag, and debris that can foul equipment, reduce cooling flow, damage machinery, or impact the efficiency of operational equipment. These systems are completely mobile, flexible (simply change the bags to change the micron level of filtration) and Zero Discharge.

Mobile systems with up to 24" piping capable of up to 20,000 GPM.

Pre-Commissioning Filtration

Pre-commissioning of piping & equipment refers to the series of activities and procedures undertaken before a piping system is put into operation. Typically this includes flushing and or purging of the chilled water systems. These activities are crucial to ensure that the piping system is installed correctly, functions properly, and is safe for operation. Bag filtration is the preferred method to remove particulate, debris, dirt, rust, mill scale and welding slag.

Liquid is circulated through the piping system and filtered with bags of varying micron size to remove particulate. By completing these pre-commissioning activities thoroughly, potential issues with the piping system can be identified and addressed before it is put into service, minimizing the risk of operational issues, equipment failures and safety hazards.

Data Centers - Critical Filtration

FSI Liquid filtration is important in a data center primarily for cooling and maintaining optimal conditions for the equipment. Here’s why it matters:

1. Preventing Contaminants in Data Center Cooling Systems

  • Data centers rely on cooling systems to regulate the temperature of servers and other critical equipment. Many cooling systems, especially those using liquid coolants, circulate liquids (such as water or specialized coolants) through pipes, heat exchangers, and cooling units.

  • Liquid filtration helps to remove impurities, particles, mill scale, welding slag and debris that could build up inside the chill water system. These contaminants can block the flow of coolant, reduce heat transfer efficiency, or even cause corrosion over time.

2. Ensuring Optimal Performance of Data Center Cooling Equipment

  • Cooling systems (such as chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, and cooling towers) operate more efficiently when they are free from contaminants. Liquid bag filtration ensures that the components of these systems continue to function properly, reducing the chances of failure and maintaining effective cooling performance. All with zero discharge.

3. Minimizing Corrosion and Scaling

  • Contaminants in the liquid coolant, especially minerals and chemicals, can cause scaling (the buildup of mineral deposits) or corrosion in pipes and cooling units. This can degrade the performance of the cooling system, reduce its lifespan, and increase maintenance costs.

  • Liquid bag filtration helps in keeping the coolant clean and free of substances that might cause these issues, thereby extending the life of the cooling infrastructure.

  • Chiller system passivation in a data center is a crucial process that protects internal metal surfaces from corrosion by forming a thin, protective oxide layer. It involves chemical cleaning, followed by a passivation treatment to remove contaminants and enhance corrosion resistance. This process is particularly important for new systems, as it prevents corrosion during the early stages of operation.

4. Reducing Data Center Maintenance Costs

  • When filtration systems are in place, they help prevent the accumulation of dirt, dust, and other particles in the cooling system, which can lead to fouling, reduced flow, decreased efficiency, and the need for frequent repairs or replacements.

  • A clean system requires less frequent maintenance and interventions, reducing overall operational costs for the data center.

5. Enhancing Data Center Reliability

  • A data center's reliability depends on stable operating conditions. Overheating due to inefficient cooling could cause equipment failures, downtime, and data loss. By ensuring that the liquid cooling systems are properly filtered, you reduce the likelihood of these failures, thus improving the overall uptime and reliability of the data center.

  • These systems are completely mobile, flexible (simply change the bags to change the micron level of filtration) and Zero Discharge.

In short, liquid bag filtration from Filter Sciences in a data center plays a critical role in maintaining the cooling system’s efficiency, preventing damage to equipment, reducing maintenance costs, and ensuring that the data center operates reliably without overheating or other cooling issues.
